Q: How do I know which treatment is right for me?
A: During your visit, I’ll assess your skin and talk through your goals to recommend the best option. Whether it’s a peel for brightening, microdermabrasion for smoothing, or dermaplaning for instant glow, we’ll choose together.
Q: Do these treatments hurt?
A: Most clients find them very comfortable! Microdermabrasion feels like a gentle exfoliating suction, dermaplaning is painless (like a light scraping sensation), and chemical peels may feel a bit tingly or warm but not painful.
Q: Is there downtime?
A: It depends on the treatment. Dermaplaning and microdermabrasion have little to no downtime — your skin may just look slightly pink for a few hours. Chemical peels vary from light flaking to a few days of visible peeling, depending on the depth.
Q: How should I prepare for my appointment?
A: Please arrive with clean skin, avoid active tanning, and skip using strong exfoliants or retinoids for 3–5 days before your treatment. If you’re unsure, I’ll guide you with a pre-treatment checklist.
Q: What should I avoid after treatment?
A: For 24–48 hours, avoid heavy sweating, direct sun, harsh exfoliants and picking at your skin. Always use SPF — your skin will be more sensitive to the sun.
Q: How often should I get treatments?
A: For best results, facials are booked monthly in order to maintain. Many clients schedule microdermabrasion or dermaplaning monthly, while chemical peels are often spaced 4–6 weeks apart, depending on skin goals.
Q: Can I combine treatments?
A: Yes! Many treatments pair beautifully — for example, dermaplaning before a peel can enhance results. I’ll recommend safe combinations during your consultation.
Q: Are these treatments safe for all skin types?
A: Most skin types can benefit, but some conditions (like active acne breakouts, rosacea flare-ups or certain sensitivities) may need a different approach. I’ll always make sure treatments are safe for your unique skin.
Q: Payment Methods
A: Skin by Mandy accepts debit cards, cash and checks for services. These forms of payment are always welcome and appreciated. Credit cards are also accepted; however, please note that a processing fee (2.9% + $0.30 per transaction) will be applied. This fee covers the cost charged by payment processors to securely handle credit card transactions. Choosing debit, cash or check helps keep costs lower for everyone, but I’m happy to accommodate whichever payment method is most convenient for you.
